Although traditional treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy have improved, high recurrence rates and treatment resistance remain significant challenges. In recent years, researchers have turned their attention to natural compounds as potential therapeutic options. Among them, Fisetin has garnered interest due to its various biological activities.
To explore the potential mechanisms of Fisetin’s effect on ovarian cancer, researchers treated human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cell lines with various concentrations of Fisetin for different durations. They then established a xenograft tumor model using SKOV3 cells in nude mice to observe the inhibitory effects of Fisetin on tumor growth. The results are as follows:
The experimental results showed that the proliferation of ovarian cancer cells was significantly inhibited by Fisetin, and the proliferation inhibition was concentration-dependent. In the present study, it was also confirmed by flow cytometry that Fisetin was able to induce apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells; after the action of Fisetin, the expression of apoptotic factor Bax in transplanted tumors was significantly increased, the expression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 was significantly decreased, and apoptotic protein PARP was significantly sheared. Fisetin exerted anti-tumor effects on ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells both in vivo and ex vivo, and inhibited the development of ovarian cancer, so it is expected to become a safe and effective natural drug for the prevention and treatment of ovarian cancer.
